The primary aim of this website is to provide information about the activities, events, and opportunities offered by 1st Malden Scout Group to visitors and members.
Data Protection and GDPR Compliance
When you or your child join 1st Malden Scout Group, we collect essential information, such as names, dates of birth, addresses, contact details, and family doctor information. This data is used solely for:
- Scouting administration purposes.
- Sharing updates, news, and details about Scouting activities.
You can view and amend the information we hold about you at any time via Online Scout Manager (OSM). Upon leaving the Group, your data will either be archived (in case of future re-joining) or permanently deleted after a suitable period.
Our parent organisation, The UK Scout Association, may request information about our activities for management purposes. However, this does not include personal details about members.
All adult volunteers and leaders, as well as any individuals staying overnight at camps, are required to register with the Scout Association and undergo vetting by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The Scout Association complies with Data Protection/GDPR regulations and manages any personal data submitted during registration.
Website Contact Form
If you complete a contact form on this website, we will collect only the minimum personal details required to respond to your query. We do not store this information online except through Online Scout Manager.
Photography and Media Permissions
The 1st Malden Scout Group regularly photographs events for promotional and documentation purposes. Photos and videos may be used in:
- Local newspapers.
- Group or District newsletters.
- Displays or social media.
Please notify us if you prefer for your child’s image not to be used.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Media
