Use Your Skills to Help Young People Gain Theirs
Whatever your skills, we would love you to join the adventure and help young people at 1st Malden gain skills for life. One session you might be exploring the great outdoors. And the next? Learning new things right on your doorstep. We’re all about teamwork so you’d be joining an established team of adult volunteers and young leaders. We encourage flexible, regular volunteering so we can fit around your other commitments and there’s no expectation to be there every week. The larger the team, the more flexibility we can offer.
How to Volunteer at 1st Malden
Contact us by email at volunteer@1stmaldenscouts.org.uk. We would love to hear from you, and any time you can give will be gratefully received.
Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Volunteering
Young people between 13.5 and 18th birthday who are not members of Scouting can choose between helping at Beavers, Cubs or Scouts and if we have space in the section you’ll be invited to help as a Young Leader for a fixed period of time as required for their level of Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Explorer Scout Young Leaders (ESYLs)
Young people between 13.5 and 18 can be ESYLs with Beavers, Cubs or Scouts and work alongside adult leaders in a Beaver, Cub or Scout section. They complete training modules and work towards achieving their Young Leader belt buckle while supported by the adults in the section where they volunteer.
Adult Volunteers Always Welcome!
If you’re 18+ whether you want to work with young people directly or help out behind the scenes, there’s a role for you at 1st Malden. In one of our Sections (Beavers, Cubs or Scouts) you might be planning teaching a skill, sharing a hobby, or maybe you’re great at running games or thinking of creative activities. You could help us practically with gardening or DIY or maybe you can get stuck in with some admin. Struggling for time? Not a problem – the best part of volunteering in a team means there’ll be someone who can help. By volunteering your time you’ll be creating lifelong memories for young people and having some fun along the way yourself.
