Introducing Squirrels – A New Adventure for 4-6-Year-Olds!
We’re excited to announce that we’re looking to open a Squirrel Drey at 1st Malden! Squirrels is the newest section in Scouting, specially designed for young adventurers aged 4 to 6 years old and it launched nationally in September 2021.
There are already 1,275 Squirrel Scout Dreys across the UK and we’d love to open one at 1st Malden! This is an opportunity for little ones to take their first steps into the world of Scouting, learning valuable skills through fun and hands-on activities.
The first step is for us to find a team of adults to lead Squirrels. The easy part will be opening the section to our newest, youngest members!
What is Squirrels?
Squirrels provides a safe, inclusive, and exciting space where children can:
- Develop teamwork and problem-solving skills.
- Explore the outdoors and nature.
- Build confidence and independence.
- Earn badges and celebrate achievements!
Through games, crafts, and outdoor adventures, Squirrels get a head start on the values and life skills that Scouting has to offer.
Can You Help Us Launch a Squirrel Drey?
To make this dream a reality, we need volunteers to help lead and support this new section. Whether you’re a seasoned Scouter or completely new to the movement, your time and enthusiasm could make a huge difference!
